What are the specifications of this cold chain lane?

The lane maintains -18C or below end to end. You bring the goods to our Taoyuan air freight warehouse; from there they are flown to Kuala Lumpur and delivered by refrigerated truck across West Malaysia. Total transit is roughly 3-5 days from warehouse intake to delivery. Pricing is NT$300 per kilogram with a 300 kg minimum; shipments below 300 kg are still charged at 300 kg.

This temperature band means "do not thaw", not merely "keep cool". Frozen and chilled are different services: chilled runs at 0-4C for short shelf-life produce, while frozen runs at -18C or below and requires goods to be fully frozen before drop-off. We do not accept ambient or partially thawed goods for freezing at our warehouse - that requires blast freezing equipment, and if the core temperature has not come down before packing, the shipment warms steadily for the rest of the journey.

Delivery coverage is currently West Malaysia. East Malaysia (Sabah, Sarawak) requires a second transfer leg and is quoted case by case.

Why is there a 300 kg minimum?

Because cold chain costs are structured around reserved air capacity and dedicated delivery vehicles, not per-parcel allocation. Frozen air capacity has to be booked as a batch, and a refrigerated truck must be dispatched to the delivery address in Malaysia. Neither cost drops to one-sixth because you only ship 50 kg.

A refrigerated truck run costs the same regardless of load, and EPS boxes and coolant are configured for the batch as a whole. 300 kg is the smallest volume at which this lane stays unbroken without charging an unreasonable per-kilogram rate. If your volume is consistently below that, two practical alternatives exist:

• Consolidate shipments: accumulate two or three batches into one run, storing goods on your side where you control the timing
• Switch to ambient shipping: if the goods do not genuinely require freezing, standard air or sea freight costs far less

What can be shipped?

Frozen cooked foods and meat products all move on this lane: bao buns, sausages, meat thick soup, frozen meat of all kinds, plus frozen baked goods, frozen noodle and pastry products, and hotpot ingredients. Betel nut also ships on this lane - low temperature is what preserves it, so cold chain delivers it in far better condition than ambient shipping. Both personal shipments and business consignments are accepted.

The lane uses tax-inclusive clearance: import declaration and local taxes are handled by us, so the recipient does not need importer status and does not have to apply for documents shipment by shipment. A few categories still cannot be accepted, even frozen:

Large-scale commercial imports - goods intended for retail sale in Malaysia, requiring halal certification or local food labelling - should be discussed separately. Tax-inclusive clearance suits personal use, gifts and restaurant supply; goods entering retail channels usually still need the recipient's own import and certification documents.

How is temperature maintained in transit?

Three segments, none of which pass through an ambient environment:

Segment one - intake in Taiwan. You deliver the goods to our Taoyuan warehouse, where they go straight into frozen storage. They must already be frozen through on arrival. Refrigerated trucking in Taiwan is not part of this service - if you need us to collect from your location, it can be arranged separately at additional cost.

Segment two - packing and air freight. Expanded polystyrene (EPS) boxes with coolant packs maintain temperature. Each box is wrapped in stretch film and numbered by batch and sequence (for example EB795-1, EB795-2), so the recipient can verify box by box on arrival and immediately identify anything missing. Box specification and coolant quantity are calculated from total flight plus ground handling hours - this is not a matter of adding extra ice.

Segment three - delivery in Malaysia. After customs release, a local refrigerated truck delivers directly to the recipient's address. Boxes arrive still sealed, so the recipient can open and verify temperature on the spot.

If you need a full temperature log, we can place a data logger inside the box, but this must be arranged before packing.

How is the freight cost calculated?

Chargeable weight follows the same rule as standard air freight: actual weight is compared against volumetric weight (length x width x height / 5000), the greater applies, and the 300 kg minimum is then enforced. EPS boxes are bulky, so volumetric weight often approaches or exceeds actual weight - calculate both when estimating.

The calculation:

• 300 kg chargeable -> 300 x 300 = NT$90,000
• 500 kg chargeable -> 500 x 300 = NT$150,000
• 280 kg chargeable -> still charged at 300 kg = NT$90,000

The quote covers EPS boxes and coolant, air freight, and refrigerated delivery in Malaysia. It excludes refrigerated trucking in Taiwan (tell us at quotation if you need collection - it is charged separately), import duties and local taxes, import permit fees, and any certification the customer must obtain directly. What documents are required before shipping?

Because clearance is tax-inclusive, the paperwork burden sits with us. You need to supply three things:

1. Item description and contents list: specific line items, not categories - "200 frozen pork buns", not "food". Vague declarations are the single most common trigger for inspection

Import declaration, duties and local taxes are handled by us. You do not need an import permit or importer status.

What we do need from you is the condition of the goods: fully frozen before pickup. There is no workaround here - if the core temperature has not come down before packing, the shipment warms steadily for the rest of the journey.

Yes, but it is still charged at 300 kg, making the effective rate NT$900 per kilogram. In most cases this is not economical - consider accumulating volume or reassessing whether freezing is genuinely required.

Q: Is the -18C chain ever broken?

All three segments are temperature controlled: frozen storage at the Taoyuan warehouse, EPS box with coolant on the air leg, refrigerated truck in Malaysia. The air leg is the only stage without active refrigeration, relying on box insulation and coolant sized to total handling hours. Request a temperature log before shipping if you need one.

Q: Can an individual ship frozen meat to family in Malaysia?

Yes. This lane uses tax-inclusive clearance, so bao buns, sausages, meat thick soup and frozen meat all ship normally, and the recipient does not need importer status. You simply need clear item descriptions and goods frozen through before drop-off.

Q: When does the 3-5 day clock start?

From the day the goods are checked into our Taoyuan warehouse, through to delivery in West Malaysia. If customs inspection is triggered by documentation issues, transit extends - and that usually traces back to document preparation rather than the transport itself.

Q: Do you deliver to East Malaysia (Sabah, Sarawak)?

Current coverage is West Malaysia. East Malaysia requires a second transfer leg; contact us and we will assess based on the specific location and volume.

Q: Can I send one box as a trial?

The 300 kg minimum applies to this lane, so single-box trials are not available on it. If your goal is to verify whether a product can be imported, confirming recipient eligibility on the documentation side carries far less risk than shipping a test box.
